Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Latvia hold consultations

On 12 January 2018, Riga hosted the next round of consultations on international security between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Latvia.

 

The Belarusian delegation was led by Mr. Nikolai Ovsyanko, head of the international security division of the directorate for multilateral organizations of MFA Belarus. The Latvian side was chaired by Ms. Ingrīda Levrence, director of the directorate for international security policy and international organizations of MFA Latvia.

 

The parties discussed the state of play in regional and international security, as well as interaction in OSCE and UN, and cooperation of Belarus with NATO. The Belarusian representatives stressed the need to do the utmost to restore trust in Europe, which is a priority for Belarusian diplomacy today.

 

It was agreed that the practice of the bilateral consultations on international security should be continued.

 

For reference: the first consultations on international security between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Latvia were held in December 2015 in Riga. The second time the parties met in December 2016 in Minsk.
