Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Latvia hold consultations

On 20 March 2018, Riga hosted consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Latvia on cooperation with China, India, participation in One Belt One Road initiative, transport corridor North – South, and the format of cooperation of the Central and Eastern European countries and China 16+1.

 

The Belarusian delegation was led by Mr. Sergei Terentyev, head of the department for Asia, Australia and Oceania of the third political directorate of Belarus MFA. The Latvian delegation was headed by Mr. Juris Pekalis, director of the second bilateral relations department of Latvian MFA. Representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia and the Belarusian Railways were also present.

 

The parties exchanged experience of bilateral cooperation with China and India, also within the mentioned multilateral formats, and discussed promising avenues of joint work on implementation of mutually important projects, primarily in the sphere of transport and logistics.

 

On the same day, the Belarusian delegation met with the head and senior officials of the Riga Free Port and discussed some issues of mutually beneficial cooperation. The Belarusian delegation paid a visit to the Riga Free Port.
